Leap to equality

By Cat

Today I will talk about Misty Copeland an amazing African American ballet dancer

Beginning to present time.

During her childhood, a lot of things happened, good and bad. Born in Kansas City September 10, 1982, her parents were blessed with what later the world would treasure as world famous ballet dancer misty was inspired by Mariah Carey because she was also biracial. Later that year she moved in with her first stepdad two years after she moved in with her stepdad Robert, he was not the nicest he called Mistey's sister the n word just after he hit misty brother with a frying pan three weeks after they found a dead body on their porch. Just after they escaped without Robert knowing.

Just after she moved into a motel then misty joined a community gym her drill teacher told her to join ballet, so she watched a class then the teacher asked her to join she hated it!! She vowed to never do ballet again. A month later she tried ballet again the teacher used her as an example her teacher she stretched her legs and pointed her toes this taught her positions and form after two-three months she was on point just after she realized that she loved ballet and she wanted to do it the rest of her life.

Just after a few months more of practice she started a ballet summer camp at Abt (American ballet theatre) after the camp she was invited to many ballet schools, but her mother did not want her to leave so she said no that she had to stay right with them a day later Cindy her ballet teacher and mentor said that misty should meet her friend He was an attorney he said because your sixteen you can get liberation (being free from your parents ) so she could go to a ballet school after lots of thinking she said yes she would like to be liberated. So, the next day she and her attorney went to court against Mistey's own mother she lost sad but even worse her mother said she can't see Cindy ever again then they were invited to tv shows about all the drama they had to go to a court show misty sat in the audience she cried the entire show she had lost hope after she went back to high school a few months after then her mom let her go after she graduated.

There she was in front of ABT after all her hard work she was there on point after a few months she was noticing that she wasn’t getting the roles she had trained for. She brought it up to the principal the principal said it wasn’t racism she just wasn’t showing enough effort and that she needed to work harder afterwards she got called in with the principal and he said she wasn’t fitting in to her costumes like she used to her thought was that she was eating to many fatty foods she went on a diet and she lost weight but after the first talk with the principal she worked harder a little too hard but she was moved up to principal dancer she had multiple shows coming up and she couldn't miss them so she worked through the pain right before the shows she saw a doctor the results weren't good she had multiple fractures she couldn't dance she had to heal so somebody took her place. She came back almost a year later as a principal dancer just after she starred in Fire Bird, that was the point of her career.

What I've learned from misty Copeland is that you should work through the bad till you get to the good and no matter how mean nasty and rood people are if you have a dream push through till THE END
