Jackie Robinson

In this presentation I am going to tell you all about the famous Jackie Robinson, most of you probably know about how he is a very good baseball player, but that is not the only reason he is so well known today, he was also a person that inspired lots of black people all over the world to do things that they did not think could be done. I hope you enjoy this presentation on Jackie Robinson. 

First, I am going to tell you about Jackie Robinsons birth and childhood. Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919, in Cario Georgia. Jackie was the youngest of 5 siblings he had 3 brothers and two sisters his brothers were Mack, Edgar and frank and his sisters were Willa, and Mae. He moved to California and was not liked by the Neibers because he was black, eventually they excepted him and his family as part of the Neiborhood, he went to school and was good at all sports. 

Second, I will tell you about Jackie Robinsons career. One thing most people don’t know about Jackie is he was a solder he was drafted for war and was a second lieutenant. One good thing about the war was one of his fellow soldiers told him about a Negro baseball league that payed well after the war he went to play there. One day in the league Branch Rickey the dodger's manager said he wanted to draft Jackie for a new negro league it turned out Branch Ricky wanted to draft him for the dodgers knowing people would be mad he put Jackie in little league first and if Jackie was good enough, he could play on the dodgers. Eventually he made it on the dodgers people were very mad about this they did all sorts a mean things but if Jackie talked back, it would look bad for all black people, he was number 42. 

Lastly, I will tell you about Jackie's death and accomplishments. Accomplishments: Jackie Robinson had many accomplishments first of all he was the first black major league player second, he was the first black baseball player to make it to the hall of fame he also inspired people all around the world to try to accomplish their goals. Jackie died at age 53 in a Stanford hospital, he had a heart attack. 

Conclusion 

In conclusion I hope you learned something from this presentation, I definitely did I chose Jackie Robinson because he was someone to follow for many black people around the world.

Ted Williams

If there was a hitter to fear at the plate it would be Ted Williams, he was the greatest hitter to ever live. He was like a machine when he hit. Today I will talk about why ted Williams was such an amazing baseball player I will talk about his life accomplishments and his time in the US navy. 

Ted Williams was born in Sandiego California on August 30, 1918. His mother was never home because he was too involved working in the Salvation Army. Ted and his mother never had a good relationship. Ted played for his local team the San Diego Padres. This was before they were a major league team. In 1939 the Boston Red Sox recruited Ted Williams to play for them. 

During Ted Williams career he had a few nicknames like “the kid” and “the splendid splinter”. In 1941 Ted Williams had the best season of his life. That year his batting average was .406, the highest batting average in major league baseball history. He also hit 37 homeruns and only struck out 27 times that season. Altogether Ted Willams played nineteen seasons for major league baseball. His career in baseball was interrupted twice by military service.  During Teds career he served in war as a navy pilot. He was one few professional baseball players who served in more than one war. He served in World War 2 and the Korean War. 

Nearing the end of Ted’s career he was involved in donating money to the Jimmy Fund to help kids with cancer. Probably the thing the thing Ted Williams was most known for in his major league career was his batting average his career batting average is .344. He retired from baseball in 1960 and in 1966 he was inducted into the baseball hall of fame. 

I hope you enjoyed my presentation and learned something interesting and new. Ted Williams has inspired me to become a better hitter and a better baseball player. He is an example of an American who has contributed to his profession through excellence, his country through military service, and to the greater good through his charitable donations.  I hope he inspired you to in some way.
