Jerry Kramer

by Wyatt

Hi I’m a retired Green Bay Packer, sports commentator and author from Jordan Montana. I was born January 23,1936. I have an 11-year National Football League career with the Green Bay Packers as an offensive lineman.  I won 2 Super Bowl championships(Superbowl 1 & 2) and 3 pro bowl championships. I played in 130 games before I retired as a football player. I was inducted into the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame in 1977.  I was an integral part of the famous "Packer Sweep", a signature play in which both guards rapidly pull out from their normal positions and lead block for the running back going around the end. I was an integral part of the famous "Packer Sweep", a signature play in which both guards rapidly pull out from their normal positions and lead block for the running back going around the end. In 1985, I wrote Distant Replay, which updated the whereabouts of the members of the Packers' Super Bowl I championship team following a team reunion at Lambeau Field during the 1984 season.

Anne Frank

by Maizy P.

My name is Maizy, for the Biography Bistro I chose a good person, at least in my opinion, I chose Anne Frank. I chose this person because I think that what they did was good for the world to get to learn about.

Anne Frank’s birth and death date, Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, she died 1945 in Bergan-Belson concentration camp. Her family consisted of Her mother, father, and sister. Anne Frank’s family was Jewish. Her mother, Edith died before Anne. Anne died shortly after her sister Margot. Anne was born in Frankfurt Germany, she lived there for quite a while, then her family moved to the Netherlands where they lived in a secret annex behind a bookshelf.

The time period was the 30’s to 40’s. World war II had broken out, and the Nazi party took power. The Nazis were against Jewish people, black people, gypsies, and more. They made camps where people were “exterminated” and other camps where people just spent time in unsanitary places.

Anne Frank’s accomplishments were really unintentional! She had a diary that she used to explain how she felt and what was going on. She also told how hard it could be to get food and other things. Her diary was and still is really important to historians to learn more about World War II. She also said what is what like to live in a secret place where the entrance was behind a bookshelf.

Where Anne Frank lived there were five people who helped the Frank family to hide. They helped them get food, shelter, and protection. Their names were Johannas Kleiman, Miep Van Gies, Victor Kugler, Bep Voskuijl, and Johannas Hendrick Voskuijl. In later years, Anne Frank’s family was found by Germans, and were taken to camps. The theory is that one of the helpers gave them away, but it is still unknown who.

That is what I learned on Anne Frank for my research project.

Sally Ride

By Grace

Can you imagine what it would be like to be an astronaut? To get into a rocket ship, and fly into space? Can you imagine being a little kid, and growing up, all you wanted to do was go to space?! Then when you were finally grown up, you were told you can’t do it, just because you are a girl? Growing up, Sally was a bright student who loved science and math. She studied at Stanford University before beating out 1,000 other applicants for a spot in the National Aeronautics and Space Administrations (NASA) astronaut program. Sally Ride was the first American woman in space. She was part of the Challenger crew, and went to space 2 times. Sally was scheduled to take a third trip, but was cancelled after the tragic Challenger accident. In 2001, Sally started her own company to create educational programs and products known as Sally Ride Science, to help inspire girls and young women to pursue their interests in science and math.

Sally Kristen Ride was born on May 26, 1951 in Encino, California. Her father, Dale, was a political science professor and her mother volunteered as a counselor at a prison for women. Growing up, Sally had a strong interest in science and math. She also was an athlete and enjoyed playing tennis. Sally grew up in Los Angeles and went to Stanford University, where she was a double major in Physics and English. Sally received Bachelor’s degrees in both subjects in 1973. She continued to study physics at the University, earning a Master’s degree in 1975 and a Ph. D. in 1978.

Dr. Sally Ride went through the program’s rigorous training program and got her chance to go into space and into the record books in 1983. On June 18, Sally became the first American woman in space, aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. As a mission specialist, she helped deploy satellites and worked on other projects. Sally returned to Earth on June 24. The next year, she again served as a mission specialist on a space shuttle flight, in October. Ride was scheduled to take a third trip, but it was cancelled, after the tragic Challenger accident on January 28, 1986. After the accident, she served on the presidential commission that investigated the space shuttle accident.

The Space Shuttle Challenger was a fatal incident, in the United States Space Program that occurred on Tuesday, January 28, 1986, during which the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight, killing all 7 crew members aboard. The spacecraft disintegrated over the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 11:39 a.m. The disintegration of the vehicle occurred after a joint on its right solid rocket booster failed at liftoff. There was a gap in between two pieces of medal, and they filled it in with a thing called O-ring seals. O-ring seals were not designed to handle the cold conditions, that were at this launch. The O-ring seals blew up the rocket.

After NASA, Ride became the director of the California Space Institute at the University of California, San Diego, as well as a professor of physics at the school in 1989. In 2001, she started her own company to create educational programs and products known as Sally Ride Science. Ride served as president and CEO. For her contributions, to the field of science and space exploration, Ride received many honors, including the NASA Space Flight Medal and the NCAA’s Theodore Roosevelt Award. Sally Ride was also inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame, and the Astronaut Hall of Fame. On July 23, 2012, Sally died at the age of 61, following by a 17-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She will always be remembered as a pioneering astronaut, who went where no other American woman had gone before.

Dr. Sally Ride made history when she became the first American woman in space. She inspired thousands of young women. Always pursue and never give up on your dreams, even if it is nothing like what has been done before.

Karl Marx

By Will

Karl Marx was born Karl Heinrich Marx on May 5,1818 in Trier, Germany. He was the oldest surviving boy of nine children. In 1835 at age 17 he went the University of Bonn there he studied law and philosophy. In 1836 he got engaged to Jenny von Westphalen and got married in 1843.In 1842 he moved to Cologne. In 1843 he and his wife moved to Paris because Prussia had become very anti-Karl Marx. He lived in 23 Rue Vaneau before the birth of his daughter Jenny. On August 28th,1844 he met Friedrich Engels a German Socialist which began a lifelong friendship. By 1844 Marx definitely had a vision of Marxism in his head. In 1845 when the French Government kicked him and his family out of France, outlawed from France and Germany he ran to Brussels.
While in Brussels he wrote one of his most famous works The Communist Manifesto. However soon after in early 1848 the Belgian Ministry of Justice attempted to arrest Marx and so he fled back to France. Soon after he moved back to Germany but promptly fled to London where he lived for the rest of life.
In 1852 he became a European correspondent for the New York Times. But when the editor-in-chief Charles Dana left in 1861 Karl left soon after. In 1867 his book Das Kapital Volume I was published the other 2 volumes to be published posthumously. Of his children his 3 daughters, all named Jenny, survived to adulthoodHis wife of 38 years Jenny Marx died in 1881 and soon after in 1883 he died of bronchitis and pleurisy at age 64
I chose Karl Marx because he was a very interesting person. He was a founder of Communism.
He was banished from 3 countries and he inspired thousands of people around the world.

George Washington

By Eli

Growing up
George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in the colony of Virginia. He was very athletic and loved riding horses and later was known as the best horseman in Virginia.
George was good at math but was never good at spelling it embarrassed him all his life

Mount Vernon
He wasn’t close to his mother; she was very mean and bossy. When he was eleven his father died so he moved in with his half-brother Lawrence.
At one-point George's half-brother Lawrence died in militia Goerge replaced him

Country life
After the French and Indian war which didn’t go so well Goerge went back to mount Vernon and married Martha custus at one-point George and Martha owned as many as 300 slaves, later in life he realized slavery was wrong.
In his farming life George stopped growing tobacco and switched to wheat because it was easier to grow, when the English taxed the tea George switched to coffee.

Commanding general
Later George was a general in the military during the revolutionary war the conditions were so bad more people died from smallpox than battle wounds. After George won the war, he was going to go back to be a farmer.
Because of his fame in war George won both elections for president both times John Adams got in second both times as president he set the example of only serving 2 terms, he made sure he didn’t get to powerful.

George Washington was very important in history without him we wouldn’t have had a president till a lot longer.
