By Will
Karl Marx was born Karl Heinrich Marx on May 5,1818 in Trier, Germany. He was the oldest surviving boy of nine children. In 1835 at age 17 he went the University of Bonn there he studied law and philosophy. In 1836 he got engaged to Jenny von Westphalen and got married in 1843.In 1842 he moved to Cologne. In 1843 he and his wife moved to Paris because Prussia had become very anti-Karl Marx. He lived in 23 Rue Vaneau before the birth of his daughter Jenny. On August 28th,1844 he met Friedrich Engels a German Socialist which began a lifelong friendship. By 1844 Marx definitely had a vision of Marxism in his head. In 1845 when the French Government kicked him and his family out of France, outlawed from France and Germany he ran to Brussels.
While in Brussels he wrote one of his most famous works The Communist Manifesto. However soon after in early 1848 the Belgian Ministry of Justice attempted to arrest Marx and so he fled back to France. Soon after he moved back to Germany but promptly fled to London where he lived for the rest of life.
In 1852 he became a European correspondent for the New York Times. But when the editor-in-chief Charles Dana left in 1861 Karl left soon after. In 1867 his book Das Kapital Volume I was published the other 2 volumes to be published posthumously. Of his children his 3 daughters, all named Jenny, survived to adulthood. His wife of 38 years Jenny Marx died in 1881 and soon after in 1883 he died of bronchitis and pleurisy at age 64
I chose Karl Marx because he was a very interesting person. He was a founder of Communism.
He was banished from 3 countries and he inspired thousands of people around the world.
