THE LIFE AND HISTORY OF 

JOHN LENNON 

  Today we are Going to talk about the life, history, and music of JOHN LENNON. I hope you learn a lot of cool stuff. 

John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, England. His full name, John Winston Lennon, was given to him after the prime minister at the time, Winston Churchill. His parents Alf and Julia Stanly were also musical. He got his first guitar from his mom when he was six years old. John Lennon bought his first guitar when he was about 15 years old and was in his first band when he was about 16 years old, it was how John met Paul McCartney and George Harrison it was a skiffle band called The Quarry Men. The Quarry Men broke up around 1958. 

After the Quarry Men John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and a new member Ringo Starr Broke off from the rest of the band and started the very well-known band called THE BEATLES. They sold the most records of any band of all time and are considered one of the greatest bands of all time. Some of The Beatles most popular songs are “Hey Jude” and “Here Comes the Sun”. John Lennons most popular song is “Imagine” which is considered one of the greatest written songs of all time.  

John Lennon got married in 1962 to a woman named Cynthia Lennon. They had one kid, a boy named Julian Lennon. But John Lennon was only married to Cynthia for 6 years; they got divorced in 1968. John Lennon got married again in 1969 to a woman named Yoko Ono; he was married to Yoko for 11 years, from 1969 to 1980. Yoko and John also had one boy named Sean Lennon. 

The Beatles broke up in April 1970. One of the reasons was because Paul McCartany announced his departure on April 10th, 1970, to promote his solo album. John Lennon had secretly left the band about 7 months earlier, so he could work with Yoko on a solo thing. After The Beatles, all the Beatles kept playing music like John Lennon, and Paul McCartney kept touring, and writing new songs. 

On February eighth, 1980, John Lennon and Yoko Ono were walking home from the recording studio in NYC. When out of nowhere Mark David Chapman jumped out and shot John Lennon five times with 38 specials. They rushed him to the hospital, but by the time they got there it was too late, John Lennon, one of the world's greatest musicians, was dead. He died at 11:15pm in New York City.
