George Washington Carver

By: Kyle
George Washington Carver was born in Diamond, Missouri in the segregation era when blacks were treated poorly. Some slave owners back then would lynch black people for doing something wrong, disobeying or trying to escape. (Lynching is when you hang somebody with a rope by the neck and they get choked to death) When George was two year's young, George’s dad was lynched for trying to escape the farm owned by Moses Carver and Julia Carver when he was five George and his mom was captured by slave raiders he watched his mom get lynched. George was saved by Moses Carver’s men. George’s parents were both killed. Moses and Julia Carver became his step parents.

George was allowed more time not doing as much chores with his step parents owning George. George loved playing in the woods it was a habit when he was allowed more time off. George would play in the woods for hours playing with animals and looking at trees and plants that interested George, but George only had a few hours of time when George plays in the woods. George tried doing them in sections at a time doing the activities that all were the same amount of time. George’s step parents said he can leave the farm when he was nine-teen years in age. George was frustrated when they said that. Two years later George was twelve years in age and George broke his pinky lifting metal for a new house being built on the farm. It took one year and three months to heal.

As the years went by and George grew older in age, he got more excited to leave the farm but as George got older, He got more chores and harder chores. When George turned nine-teen George moved from the farm in Diamond Grove, Missouri to Tuskegee, Alabama with his grandparents. George has been at college for two years and his grandpa died in May 18th ,1888. His grandma died from pneumonia two years in August 15th ,1890. George was almost done with his final year in college. George decided to work at a charity center in Tuskegee, Alabama after George graduated from Tuskegee university.

George worked at the charity center until he was thirty-eight years old then he got a job at a farm company to study foods, plants, or animals George chose food his food categories were peanuts and sweet potatoes.  When he was fifty years young George came up with 105 recipes from peanuts and seventy-nine recipes out of sweet potatoes. George worked at the farm company until he was fifty- three years old. George decided to teach about Plant doctoring in Tuskegee university.
George was having a great life he was talked about in every state so when Thomas Jefferson saw he was having a great life he thought he could make it even better by offering George one million dollars every six months to work at the White House. George was sixty-nine and George chose to not work at the White House instead he still wanted to work with plants. George denied it because he loved plants more than money. George decided to work for an extra year at Tuskegee university. After George worked at the university of Tuskegee, Alabama he moved back to his old farm company. George worked at that farm company for seven more years. The rest of his life was just George being George. George died in Tuskegee, Alabama 1943. P.S. George was buried in Montgomery, Alabama
