Franklin Delano Roosevelt

By Frankie

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the longest serving president of the United States. He was a governor of New York. A senator of New York. And a. Key role model in the United States history.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born January 30th, 1882, in Hyde Park New York. His mother was Sara Ann Roosevelt his father who died in 1900 was James Roosevelt 1. His mother and father were 6th cousins. Franklin had a half-brother named James rosy Roosevelt. When he was young, he learned to sail. When he was 16 is father gave him a sailboat.

Except for attending public school in Germany at the age of nine he was mostly home schooled. Until he turned 14, he then attended Harvard and got an ab in history then he went to. Groton boarding school in Massachusetts. But then in 1900 Roosevelts father died. In 1905 franklin married Eleanor his fifth cousin once removed.

Senator of New York

Roosevelt held little passion for the practice of law and confided to friends that he planned to eventually enter politics. Despite his admiration for his cousin Theodore. Franklin inherited his father's reputation with the Democratic Party. But Theodore was a major role model. Assistant secretary of the navy in 1913 Roosevelt became assistant secretary of the navy in 1917. He was very helpful at motivating the navy sailors. And he was it for. Quiet a long time. Until the end of world war I.

In 1920 he had a campaign for vice president he lost. In 1921 he caught polio and it paralyzed his legs for the rest of his life. In 1929 he was elected governor of New York.

First term

In 1933 he was elected the 32nd president of the United States. In 1933 he stopped the distribution of gold coins to the public, and all were melted down into gold bars. Except for a few that were saved. And that helped the U.S through the great depression. In 1933 he created the new deal program.

Second term

In 1936 he set the new deal program into its second phase. And made a bunch of speeches. But kept a close eye on the advancements and moves other countries were making. But kept a caution about Germany. But in 1939 Germany invaded Poland.

Third term

In his third term everyone was surprised with a third campaign for election. When he won, he set the record for longest serving president. The beginning of hi 3rd term was quiet settle but in December 1941 japan attacked Hawaii and not even a week later he declared war on japan and Germany. And that sent the greater majority of the Japanese American Heritage. Into internment camps.

Fourth term

After the Yalta conference was quite unstable and he had had declining health since at least 1940. They ran some blood tests, and he was found to have high blood pressure and his heart was failing.  And there was no cure.

 Death and remembrance

On, April 12, 1945, in warm springs Georgia he said, “I have a terrific headache”. And not long after he died. He did lots of great things in his life. Today he is remembered by many memorials, and you should see his face every day on the dime.

And that concludes my FDR bistro presentation. In my opinion He was one of the greatest U.S presidents he has over 100 written works about him and. Is known for being the longest serving president of the United States. He is on the dime.

Doris Mary Anne Kappelhaff was born on April 3, 1922, in Cincinnati Ohio.  Doris’ mother's name was Alma Sophia and her father's name was Joseph William Kapplelhoff . Doris was named after the actress Doris Kenyon. Doris’ mother was a homemaker, and her father was a music teacher. Doris was the youngest of three children she had two older brothers. She had 2 older brothers.

When Doris Day was a teenager, a traumatic experience happened with her dog that started in her a life-long dedication to protecting animals. The incident was that she was walking her dog, Tiny, when Tiny ran into the street and was hit by a car and died. From that day on, Doris was dedicated to saving and helping all animals. She later started many organizations to protect and help animals.

Doris developed an early interest for dance and in the mid 1930s formed a dance duo with Jerry Dohety that performed locally in Cincinnatians was in a car accident on October 13, 1937, her left leg was injured so she could not be a perfectional dancer. Jackie Robinson

 By Eli R.

In this presentation I am going to tell you all about the famous Jackie Robinson, most of you probably know about how he is a very good baseball player, but that is not the only reason he is so well known today, he was also a person that inspired lots of black people all over the world to do things that they did not think could be done. I hope you enjoy this presentation on Jackie Robinson.

First, I am going to tell you about Jackie Robinsons birth and childhood. Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919, in Cario Georgia. Jackie was the youngest of 5 siblings he had 3 brothers and two sisters his brothers were Mack, Edgar and frank and his sisters were Willa, and Mae. He moved to California and was not liked by the Neibers because he was black, eventually they excepted him and his family as part of the Neiborhood, he went to school and was good at all sports.

Second, I will tell you about Jackie Robinsons career. One thing most people don’t know about Jackie is he was a solder he was drafted for war and was a second lieutenant. One good thing about the war was one of his fellow soldiers told him about a Negro baseball league that payed well after the war he went to play there. One day in the league Branch Rickey the dodger's manager said he wanted to draft Jackie for a new negro league it turned out Branch Ricky wanted to draft him for the dodgers knowing people would be mad he put Jackie in little league first and if Jackie was good enough, he could play on the dodgers. Eventually he made it on the dodgers people were very mad about this they did all sorts a mean things but if Jackie talked back, it would look bad for all black people, he was number 42.

Lastly, I will tell you about Jackie's death and accomplishments. Accomplishments: Jackie Robinson had many accomplishments first of all he was the first black major league player second, he was the first black baseball player to make it to the hall of fame he also inspired people all around the world to try to accomplish their goals. Jackie died at age 53 in a Stanford hospital, he had a heart attack.

Conclusion

In conclusion I hope you learned something from this presentation, I definitely did I chose Jackie Robinson because he was someone to follow for many black people around the world.

ABE LINCOLN

By Keanen G.

Abe Lincoln is an inspiration to Americans everywhere and one of his biggest accomplishments is that he freed the slaves. Back in his time, that made many of the white people mad. There was even a civil war over it. I think he did the right thing. Let's get into what really took place. He was enshrined in the wrestling hall of fame.

First, I am going to talk about his assassination. I know it is the end of his story, but it is going to be the beginning of mine. He was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on Aprill 15, 1865 at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. Next let's talk about his birth. He was born in Sinking Spring Farm, Kentucky on February 12, 1809. Hours before he was assassinated, he created the secret service. Also, did you know that grave diggers tried to get his corpse? He was 56 when he died.

Now let's talk about his presidency. Did you know that he was a Republican? He was the 16th, president. Before he was president, he was a lawyer and went in front of the Supreme court. He served his whole first term but sadly only 42 days (about 1 and a half months) into his second term he was killed. John Wilkes booths brother saved Abes son from a train incident in New Jersey.

Now let's talk about the Civil war. It started on April 12, 1861, and it ended on May 9, 1865. The north won but at a very high cost. 6 hundred to 7 hundred thousand people died which is really sad. Abe was the President for almost the whole war. Just after he died the war ended. He saw it end in Heaven.

Lastly, did you know he was estimated to be worth over one million dollars in current money. He was 6 feet 4, minus the hat of course. For the height he was only 180 pounds and that is surprising to me because I am 5 foot 3 and I weigh 120 just saying that makes me feel fat, but I bet Abe did not have the flap of steel.

In conclusion, Abe Lincoln was an incredibly fun person to research, and I would really recommend him to you. Is it just me, or does everyone like his top hat? This is what I learned about Abe Lincoln; I hope you liked my presentation.

Martin Luther King Jr.

By: Cooper L.

Martin Luther King Jr was an inspiration to many people. Though, a lot of people don’t know some of his most interesting facts, just some parts. For example, I bet you didn’t know that the “I have a dream” part of Martin Luther king Jr’s speech wasn’t written in his speech, it was added on the spot! If you want to learn more amazing facts about Martin Luther King Jr, then I recommend you read this report. I hope you enjoy it!

First, I’m going to tell you about Martin’s childhood. I was born on January 15, 1929, in the city known as Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up, I went to church a lot because my father (Martin Luther King Senior) was a preacher at Ebenezer Baptist Church. This had a great impact on my life and inspired me at an early age to speak up against Jim Crow’s unfair laws and to make a difference in the world. I was highly successful in school, so successful, in fact I skipped two grades in High school and was 15 when I entered Morehouse College.  I was top of my class.

Second, I’m going to tell you how Martin became the great speaker that he is today. After I graduated from Morehouse College, I became a preacher just like my father. Everybody said I was a great speaker. That got me thinking, with this voice I could help protest nonviolently against Jim Crows laws of the state that were racist and unfair. One of my inspirations was Mahatma Gandhi. He used peaceful methods to help free India from the British. I wanted to use his same methods to free African Americans from segregation. I went on to marry my lovely wife, Coreta Scott. I have two sons and two daughters, Yolanda King, Bernice King, Martin Luther King III, and Dexter King.

Next, I’m going to tell you about one of his greatest accomplishments, Bus Boycott. During segregation, black and white people were separated from restaurants, and even buses. This got my attention. When Rosa Parks soon refused to give up her seat for a white person and was arrested, many African Americans, including me, were angry. It did not make any sense.  3 quarters of the people on the bus were black. This had gone on for too long, we had to take a stand. So, I planned a peaceful protest.  All African Americans in the town of Montgomery, Alabama would refuse to ride the bus until they gave us equal rights. This would work because the bus would lose their funds and would have to give us equal rights to get their money back and not go broke.

After more than a year, the Supreme Court made bus segregation unconstitutional. Success! There was much more to finish though.

Now, I’m going to tell you about one of Martin’s most famous speeches that had a big impact on America. It was August 28, 1963, in Washington D.C. There are over 250,000 people waiting for my speech and other ones too. It was called the “March on Washington.” We did this march because we wanted to show how many people supported the Civil Rights Bill. I made sure that the march was nonviolent.

The night before the speech I started second guessing my speech. What if it was not good enough? It took all night, but I finally finished my speech. Once I was called up to the podium, I started second guessing my speech again, there is something missing. I started speaking, but then someone inspired mean gave me the part of the speech that was missing. “Tell them about the dream King!” That was the answer, The Dream!

“When we allow freedom to ring, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last, Free at last. Thank God Almighty, we’re free at last!” I have a dream today!”

The I have a dream speech lead to me winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, in Oslo, Norway and was the youngest person ever to win it. It was an honor and I’ll never forget this moment. There was still so much racism though that needed to change.

Finally, I’m going to tell you about Martin’s sad death. On April 4, 1968, I visited Memphis, Tennesse only to find out that I would not make it. I was standing on the balcony of my hotel room. There was a gunshot and then I fell. I don’t remember much after that. I was sadly shot by a man named James Earl Ray.

Little did I know I made history having a holiday on Monday third in January. It is called Martin Luther King Jr. Day

In conclusion, I had a great time learning about Martin Luther King Jr. He was a very important person in our history. He fought for what he believed in even when threatened. His dream isn’t perfect but is getting better. Martin’s dream inspired me to do him for my report because I want to spread his dream to other people. Thank you for reading!

Jim Henson

By Noah M.

Jim Henson was born on September 24 1936 and died on May 16, 1990. Mr. Henson was a puppeteer, artist and a cartoonist and he was most famous for creating the Muppets. Jim has changed the way we think of puppets today. Changing the way we think of puppets is a big establishment.

Jim grew up in a small town called Greenville near the Mississippi river which is very hard to spell by the way but back to the story. Jim went fishing every summer with his cousins and almost always caught the biggest fish. When Jim was didn't have school, he drew pitchers of monsters' funny ones with curly beaks. People asked what his inspiration was, and he always said it was his toy deer because of the way he imagined it.

When Jim was a teenager, he needed a job, but he was always turned down when he signed up for a job, until one day when he was offered a job for a tv show called Sam and friends, so Jim cut up a teal coat and boom! Kermit the frog was born Later after Sam and friends was over Jim got asked to help make puppets for a project for kids called sesame street and Bert and Ernie came to life.

At the time Jim had an idea for a show called the Muppet show ad Kermit the frog was the host, and the show was so popular that guest stars showed up. I really like it and it’s now on Disney + so you should check it out.

Saddle Jim died on May 16, 1990, and at he's funeral and big bird came and sung it’s not easy being green on of Kermit the frog’s most famous songs.

I think Jim Henson is a hero of the world of puppets because if he didn’t create the Muppets puppets would be very unpopular. The most important thing is that Jim didn’t give up, he moved forward to create a master piece, and he was a hero and an inspiration to many people including me.

Alexander Hamilton

By Lila B.

Hamilton was an interesting man who did many things. He authored the federal papers, and he joined the revolutionary war. And if your like “Alex who?” you’re in luck because I can tell you! First, his family, from when he was born to when his cousin committed suicide. Historians still are not sure if Hamiliton was born in 1755 or 1757, though the most reasonable is 1755. His mother was listed white on tax rolls, but she may have been mixed race and colored. His father left and his mother died of yellow fever leaving him orphaned. He moved in with his cousin, but his cousin committed suicide. He got an education and joined the revolution he was Washington's right-hand man in the war, he was a great lieutenant. He once led a successful raid of the British cannons in the battery. He lived a short life dying at 42 years old. Aron burr killed him in a duel at the exact same place his son died four years later.

In conclusion Alexander Hamilton is a fascinating man and I got inspiration from the Hamiliton play.

Anne Frank

 Written By: Hazel S.

Anne Frank was just a normal 13-year-old girl who got a Diary for her Birthday, but when the Nazis came to Germany and she had to go into hiding, everything changed! Anne and the other 7 Jewish people hiding with her go through many struggles trying to stay secret. Having enough food and staying sane will be some of the biggest hardships along the way.

Anne was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. Anne’s full name is Anneliese Marie Frank. Her mother and father are Edith Frank, originally Edith nee Hollander, and Otto Heinrich Frank. Anne has one sister named Margot Bettie Frank; Anne’s sister was born on February 16, 1926. Even though Anne’s parents are married and have 2 children, it was not love at first site. Edith was born on January 6, 1900, and Otto was born on May 12, 1889. Anne’s mother came from a Jewish family, so when the Nazis came to Germany, Anne and her family were part of the many targeted people that lived in Germany.

Anne and her family moved to Holland thinking it was safe from all the Nazis. But soon after, the Nazis invaded the once safe city. Things kept getting worse, but there are still some moments of happiness. Around this same time Anne had her 13 Birthday. The first Birthday present that Anne opens is a Diary; this diary is a book of comfort, Anne not only loves this Diary, but she thinks of it as a friend. And she calls this Friend Kitty.

But the hardships continued, the Nazis and their leader Hitler were making it almost impossible to live as a Jewish person, now Jewish people could not use the Tram or have cars, a few weeks later, Jews couldn’t use bicycles either. Anne’s mother and father knew that things would only get worse, so they started getting rid of their furniture and clothes and moving them to their secret hiding place, the secret Annex, (the hiding place of Anne Frank).

When Otto moved to Holland he started a Jam company, this is where they are hiding. A bookcase was used as a door, this would protect the people hiding from the Nazis. They had LOTS of food, mostly canned. They had Cabbage, meatloaf, and pickles. The Frank Family and the other residents did not just hide in this building without anyone knowing, the people who worked at the building helped them stay hidden and well fed. These people were: Victor Kugler, Johannes Voskuijl, Miep Gies, Elisabeth Voskuijl, Jan Gies. These people had to be very careful and trust only the people who can BE trusted, usually the people who are caught helping Jews get arrested, or worse killed.

The Annex has 8 people including Anne and her family. When they first started hiding it was just Anne and her family, but a few weeks later the Vann Daan’s came to live with them in the Annex. This was a family of 3, they had one child Peter, Petronella was his mother and Hermann was her husband. It was a few months later before the 8th member of the Annex came to join them, his name is Albert Dussel.

The Annex had 7 rooms, one Bathroom, Margot, Otto, and Edith share a room, Anne and Albert Dussel share a room, the Vann Daan’s share a room, their room is also the Kitchen. Peter has his own room, right below the entrance to the attic, the attic was Peters hiding place, Peter had a cat and all pets had to stay in the attic. The Annex also had rules that you needed to follow, they mainly applied during mealtimes: Alcohol is only for medical use only, Baths: at nighttime or weekends, Pets: only in attic, No German stations aloud at mealtimes, Breakfast: In silence except for weekends, Lunch: In silence except for weekends, Dinner: Depends on the news broadcasts.

Because of the Nazis the 2nd world war started. The NAzis were led by a man named Adolf Hitler. The Nazis together wanted to get rid of Jews from Germany even though they did not take up more than 1% of the Germany’s people. Nazis started burning Synagogues and Jewish owned shops. Nazis also burned all books that were about Jewish culture or that were written by Jews. The Nazis blamed Germanys Economic problems on the treaty of Versailles along with Jews, but mostly people of Jewish culture.

The people in the Annex were not always happy. Anne never really liked her mother even before they started hiding in the Annex. Anne loves her father more than anyone in the Annex. When the bombs came Anne slept with her father because she was scared. Margot was not a very encouraging sister, and Anne was always jealous of her. Although Anne can’t really stand anyone else in the Annex, she absolutely HATES Madame Vann Daan! They never got along and Madame Vann Daan would always judge Anne. Mister Vann Daan never really had much effect on Anne, but all the people in the Annex would judge Anne on how she acted so she really did not like him much. The last person to join the Annex, Albert Dussel, he is a dentist, so he was the one to give the Docter checks when needed, but Anne did not like this so much. In fact, she was quite disgusted by him. Peter on the other hand is a very nice boy, even though he is afraid of his own shadow, Anne finds that she can confide everything in him, they can talk about things that are usually things that you talk about with your older sister or best friend. Anne finds that she has grown to love Peter. Although this is not the first time Anne has had a boyfriend, she has had a string of lovers in her time before the Nazis and the Annex.

But not everything stayed the same the 5 helpers that oversaw keeping the people in the Annex safe are either wounded and, in the hospital, or taking care of the people who are in the hospital. 2 of them are in and out of the Hospital because of stomach issues. One of the helpers was in a car accident and must stay in the office and can’t do anything to help. One must take care of her father in the Hospital. There is only one helper that can still help! A man that works in the warehouse named Mr. Van Maaran gets suspicious and the people who CAN help have to make excuses to keep the people in the Annex safe. Money was one of the things that they could usually say they had, but around this same time the Annex started running out of money to buy things that they needed to survive. This meant that they needed to sell the things that would get money. Not only this but Anne started to feel sick, later after this feeling was still strong, they figured out that Anne was sick with the flu! They tried everything to get her to feel better, but she had to be confined to her room until things blew over, (thankfully they eventually did.) things aren't going any better for the adults, Edith and Madam Vann Daan get into arguments that they usually would have agreed on about Anne. And after months of sharing food in the Annex they start splitting it between families.

For a little bit of time, it looked like things would be getting better. Although there had been many attempts on Adolf Hitlers life this was the one that Anne had talked about in her Dairy. On Friday, July 20, 1944, a 36-year-old man named Col Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg hid a bomb in his Breifcase. The plan was to put 2 bombs in the Breifcase and put them next to Hitler. Things did not go this way. Unfortunately, only 1 of the bombs of the 2 went in the Breifcase and after Stauffenberg left the briefcase was moved away from Hittler therefore did not kill him. After this act was made, every German General was shot by lower ranks because they thought that they had helped kill Hitler. Germans are killing Germans. That is exactly what America and all the other people fighting against them want!

But the happiness did not last. On the morning of August 4, 1944, around 10:00 to 10:30, 5 men step out of a German vehicle 2 wearing uniforms but all fully armed. They had been tipped off by one of the helpers, Miep Gies. The Nazis arrested all 8 of the people in hiding and Victor Kugler and Johannas Kleiman. The Nazis took all the valuables that were left in the Annex to keep.

The Nazis let Kleiman leave due to poor health he died in 1959. Elisabeth died in 1983 of natural causes. Miep Gies died on January 11, 2010, 100 years of age. Victor Kugler died in 1981 of natural causes.

All 8 people in the Annex were put in the concentration camp Bergen Belson, some went to others. Herman was gassed to death shortly before the gas chambers were shut down in October or November. Petronella Did not survive the concentration camps but the date of her death is unknown. Peter was forced to take place in the January 16, 1945, death march, he died on March 5, 1945, 3 days before the Camps were liberated. Albert Dussel died December 20, 1944. Edith died on January 6, 1944, from starvation. In the winter of 1944-45 a Typhus outbreak struck as a result of TERRIBLE Hygiene conditions. This disease killed THOUSANDS of people in the concentration camps. The outbreak took Margot and a few days later, Anne to.

Otto was the only person of the 8 people in the Annex to live. Otto published Annes diary which was a request that she made. He kept the memory of his family alive. Later Otto married Elfriede Markovits Geiringer, who also survived the concentration camps. Otto and his new wife kept the legacy of his daughters and wife alive. He let the world know what happened to all the Jewish people in the world.

Anne Frank was not an enemy of any kind. Her story is very interesting, the acts of prejudice are still happening in the world. Anne is just one example of all the things that are happening Anne’s story deserves to be told, to teach people what and what is still happening today.

Misty Copeland

Written By: Grace S.

Misty Copeland is currently a ballet prodigy. But her life was not always that way. No matter what the struggles were in her life, she always kept dancing. Read more to learn more about this ballet dancer, Misty Copeland!

I was born in Kansas City Missouri, on September 10, 1982. My birth parents were Sylvia DleaCerna, and Doug Copeland. When I was born, I had and older sister and two older brothers. My brothers were Douglas, and Christopher Copeland, and my sister was Erica Copeland.

When I was a toddler my real dad and mom got divorced and mommy took us to live with our first stepdad Harold. I really like him. Harold had a wonderful laugh. Whenever people where around him he made them laugh to. My little sister Lindsay was born after we had lived with him for 3 years. Even though there were 5 kids in the family, he always found a way to spend time with all of us. I loved it when we would sit on the couch and eat sunflower seeds. But when I was 7, mommy told us that we were leaving again. Later she told us that Harold was an alcoholic.

Our new house was only 20 miles away from Harold. We now had a stepfather named Robert. Robert called me “Little Hawaiin girl." Robert was much stricter than Harold. Every night we ate at the dining room table instead of on the couch. Robert was strict about us kids cleaning up around the house. If we did not follow his rules, we would have to stand in the corner and not say anything. Sometimes when Doug and Chris, (my two brothers), were arguing, they would have to “box it out,” in the yard. One time when Robert got mad at Chris, he hit him with a frying pan. Sometimes Robert was particularly mean, liked when he dragged Chris across the house by his ear. He was also abusive to my mom, and eventually she could not hide the bruises that she had. One day mommy told us that we were leaving so we packed up all our belongings that we could fit, and we left Robert for good.

We were annoyed that our mother always needed a boyfriend or a husband. We are now living with Mommy's new boyfriend, Ray. Mommy worked in sales, but she did not make much. Ray did not make much, either. So, the eight of us were living on truly little money. We ate mostly packaged foods, like potato chips and ramen noodles. But every now and then we would get a can of vegetables to round it out. Our mother did not cook much, so Chris would prepare our meals. We did not like ray. He was nerdy. He tried too hard to get us to like him. Plus, our mother changed when she was around him. They got matching tattoos, and she kissed him in front of us like they were teenagers. We only had to deal with ray for about a year, though, because mommy now had a new boyfriend, Alex.

We moved into Alexs apartment. Like rays, it was tiny. And so, the 6 of us kids slept on the living room floor leaving the bedroom to mommy and Alex. Mommy lost her job and then her car. After a while Alex was kicked out of his apartment and we had to move again, into a motel. Alex came with us to the Sunset Inn, and we were living in a cramped space yet again. But soon, Cameron would leave us.

His father, Robert, took our mother to court and got primary custody. That meant that Cameron would live with us only on the weekends. I cried and cried when he left. He was the baby in the family, and even though we were young, it felt like we had helped mommy raise him. Cameron moving out felt like the thread that started unraveling our family. Erica was spending the night with friends more often than she stayed at home, and Lindsey spent several weeks with her father; Harold.

My escape from all the pressures from all of the men in my mother’s life, is I would go out in the backyard, and I would teach myself gymnastics/dancing movements. I taught myself the splits, and front/back walkovers.

Money was so tight that sometimes we would search through the couch cushions and carpet for loose change, hoping to produce enough to buy food from the corner store. After it became clear that she could no longer support us, Mommy applies for food stamps.

“My first ballet class was on a basketball court. I am in my gym clothes and my socks, trying to do this thing called ballet, and I did not know anything about it. Once I was a part of it, I couldn’t get enough of it.” At age 13 I began my ballet studies. Two years later when I was 15, I won 1st place in the Musical Center Spotlight Awards.

I went to Point Fermin Elementary School and went to San Pedro High School from 1998 to 1999. I studied at San Fransisco Ballet school in 2000. I joined American Ballet Theatre Studio Company in September 2000. In 2001 I joined ABT as a member of the corps de ballet. In august 2007 I became the company’s second African American Female Soloist and the first in two decades. In 2008 I was honored with the Léonore Annenberg Fellowship in the art. In 2015 I was promoted to principal dancer, being the first African American woman to ever be promoted to the position in the company’s 75-year history.

One of my most important roles was performing the lead title role in the “Firebird.” I have been in star performances such as Clara in the Nutcracker in 2014. In fall 2014 I played Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, and in Romeo and Juliet I played Juliet.

My endorsements were American Express, COACH, and Diet Dr. Pepper. In fall 2014, under Armour launched me as one of the faces of their “I will what I want” was a commercial that went viral, gaining over 9,000,000 views to date.

I was interviewed on CBS News, 60 minutes, The Today Show, Ms. MBC’s Melissa Hariss Perry, and This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

I am in the magazines Vouge, Essence, Ebony, and People Magazine.

I have been the author of the books Life in Motion, which was published in March 2014, and the children's book Firebird, which was published in September 2014.

I have worked with many charitable organizations and am dedicated to giving of my time to work with and mentor young boys and girls.

In 2014, President Obama appointed me to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition.

In Conclusion I feel as though Misty Copeland has a wonderful story. As a ballet dancer, I know the struggles that Misty felt, with learning dance, and I want to be able to feel as wonderful of a dancer as Misty. Misty is a beautifully wonderful dancer and has a story that deserved to be told.

Marie Antionette

By Lainey

Hello, I am going to be talking to you about Marie Antoinette. I put a lot of work and effort into this research on Marie. I hope you enjoy it.

Marie was a French queen who started a revolution and had 8 kids. She also got killed at an incredibly young age.

Her early life went a little like this;

Marie was born on November 2 ,1755, in Vienna Austria. She was her parent's favorite daughter. She got married the French prince [crown prince] in 1770. She got married at an incredibly early age of 14. Less than 20 years after she became queen she got killed. Life bored her, so she entertained herself with balls. The French people chopped off her head. Her oldest son died when the revolution started.  Marie Antoinette was the beautiful queen of France.

Her plotting helped undermine the monarchy. The young queen was lively and extravagant. The stiff format of court life bored her. So, she embarrassed herself with such pleasure as fancy balls, theatricals, and gambling.

Marie lacked a good education and cared little for serious affairs. She did not hesitate to urge the dismissal of the able ministers of France whose efforts to reduce royal spending threatened and her pleasures. Louis xvi gave her the chateau called the petit tradition, where the queen and her friends embarrassed themselves. Marie became very unpopular and had been blamed for the corruption of the French court.

She lavished money on court favorites and paid no attend Chén to Frances fiscal crisis. Vicious stories

Why I picked this person is because I think she is interesting, and I think everyone should know her story. I hope you liked it.

That is all folks!! 😊

Anne Sullivan

By: Carmella J

Introduction- Anne Mansfield Sullivan, came from two, poor, Irish immigrants, her father, always drunk, abused Anne. Her poor mother who suffered from tuberculosis could do nothing to help. When Anne was just eight her mother died, which resulted in, her father abandoning Anne and her siblings, while Anne was partially blind. As Anne grew older, she suffered from a lot of trauma but finally made it to college. Anne soon became the teacher of blind and deaf, 7-year-old Helen Keller.

Anne Mansfield Sullivan was born on April 14th, 1866, in Feeding Hills, Massachusetts. She lived with her family of six; her mother, Alice Sullivan, her father, Thomas Sullivan, her siblings, Mary and Jimmie Sullivan, plus herself. When Anne was at the young age of eight, her mother unfortunately passed from tuberculosis. Thomas Sullivan (Annes father) who had abused her from a young age while being drunk and/or short tempered, abandoned Anne and her siblings. Anne, who had been partially blind, and short tempered. Jimmie, who had a lump on his hip, caused from tuberculosis, and Mary, a healthy, lovable toddler, were all abandoned. An aunt took in young Mary, but Jimmie and Anne were not wanted.  They were sent to live at a state-run poorhouse, in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Just 3 months after they arrived, Jimmie sadly died at the young age of 5. Anne stayed at the poorhouse for another 4 years before she got sent to Perkins Institution for the Blind in Boston, in 1880. She could not read or write and didn’t even know her own birthday. Anne learned and worked well and got good rewards. In 1887, she underwent surgery that restored most of her vision. She then went to Tuscumbia, Alabama, to become the private teacher of blind and deaf, 7-year-old Helen Keller. Anne first spelt words out on Helens hands but later taught Helen to read and write in braille. As both women grew older, Anne taught Helen, at her best ability and the girls stayed together for 49 years. On October 20th, 1936, Anne passed away from coronary thrombosis, at age 70, while holding Helen's hand. She died in Queens, New York. When Helen died, her ashes were placed next to Annes.

That was the end of my written presentation of Anne Sullivan. Hope you enjoyed it!

Stephen Hawking

By Aedan C.

I did many things in my lifetime that I can’t include in my story but I will try to say most of it. Here is what I can fit in, My childhood, My career, part of my personal life and my Accomplishments.

First of all, my childhood. I was born into a family of doctors in Oxford 1942. In my family my dad was named Frank and my mom is Isobel. I also have three siblings who are named Philippa, Mary, and Edward. My family also liked to talk very fast and to talk faster we made our own language named Hawkingnese. My friends and I made fireworks and a computer called LUCE.

Second, my career. I was a physicist and used general relativity a lot. My best theory is the theory that there are giant dead stars called blackholes that sucks in things millions of miles away and even light. I also helped with the theory that the universe started in a big bang and the universe is still growing from the big bang. I also made a book called a Brief history of time if you want to read one of my books.

Third, part of my personal life. I had ALS which gradually paralyzed me over the decades then I lost my ability to speak at first I was able to speak with a handheld switch that connected to a computer then my cheek muscle movement then I got married but got divorced later and remarried.

Last of all, my accomplishments. I am credited with some of the biggest discoveries of gravity since Albert einstein. I also came up with Hawking radiation which is radiation that a blackhole produces and I worked with Roger Penrose on this project. Later in my life I was elected Member of the royal society which is a society that some of the most important scientists in the world are in.

That was a small part of my long life for you. I hope you enjoyed my story there. I was inspired to do this because I watched a movie on him and I think he had an inspiring story so I decided to study it.
