Jimmy Buffett is a famous singer and songwriter known for his tropical music. He was born on Christmas of 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi and his parents were Mary Loraine and James Buffett Jr.
After Buffett saw a folk music performance, he decided he wanted to be a musician. Buffett started performing in 1961 and performed until his death in 2023. His music includes country, country rock, folk rock, and calypso.
Jimmy Buffett married Margie Washichek in 1969 but then they divorced in 1972. Buffett married his second wife, Jane Slagsvol in 1977. They had 3 kids including Savanah Buffett, who wrote a children's book with Jimmy Buffett
There are a lot more things that Jimmy Buffett did. He was known for touring. In 2010 he was named the 10th biggest touring artist of the decade. Also, Buffett owned a restaurant called Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. He wrote three books and all of them were placed on the New York Times Best Seller list.
Sadly, he died on September 1st, 2023, in his home in New York because of a rare type of skin cancer that was diagnosed in 2019.
Also, there is much more about him. His favorite foods are gumbo and sponge cake, and there is a type of sea isopod that was discovered in 2023 named after Jimmy Buffett. It is called Gnathia Jimmybuffetti.
