Today I will be talking about Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks was nicknamed “The Mother of the Civil Rights Movement,” after everything she did to help end racism. She and her husband also were active members of the League of Women Voters. I hope you will enjoy this presentation!
Rosa Louise McCauly was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on February 4,1913 to Leona Nee Edwards, a teacher and James McCauly, who was a carpenter.
Her mother taught her to read at an early age, and later went to a segregated, one-room school in Pine level. In her younger years, she was sick much of the time, and as a result she was a small child.
Her favorite food was chicken and dumplings but later in her life she became a vegetarian.
Now, I will tell you about the big moments in her life.
Rosa thought that buses should not have colored seating and that everyone should be treated equally. So, she decided to do something about it. On December 1,
1955 at 6:oo PM, Rosa boarded Cleveland Avenue bus. A white person walked up to her and asked for her seat. Rosa did not think that because she is a different race that she should have to move so, she refused to give up her seat.	She was  		arrested and it helped advance the fight for black rights.
Rosa Parks was involved in the civil rights movement for her whole life, and we will always remember her.
Thank you for letting me take some of your time to talk about Rosa Parks. Have a wonderful day!
