By: Katelyn/TATO!

I’m going to be talking about Aretha Franklin, otherwise called The Queen of Soul or “Ree” by her family members. Aretha was the daughter of a paster and help fight for civil rights. Aretha even sang with Elton John a week before she passed away! And now let’s start. Let’s start off with important information. Aretha was born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1946 Aretha moves to Detroit Michigan. In 1952 her mother dies of a heart attack.1960-1980 Aretha moved to New York, then moves to California with Ken Cunningham (her boyfriend at the time) in 1975 and appears in “Blues Brothers” in 1980. In 2005 she was “Awarded the presidential medal of freedom.” -Nico Medina. On august 16th ,2018 in Detroit Michigan Aretha dies of pancreatic cancer. Next is her Singing Career. In 1956 she releases her first album “Songs of Faith”. In 1960-1987 she signs with Columbia and Atlantic records, recorded “I never loved a man” at Muscle Shoals, “Respect hits number one on the pop and R&B charts.”- Nico Medina, and she got in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Aretha Franklin's bestselling album “Amazing Grace” is released in 1972. Ree was crowned the Queen of Soul in 1967. The Rolling Stones names Aretha the best singer of all time. In 2017 Ree declares that she will be retiring. Last but certainly not least, husbands and kids. Her first marriage to Ted White lasted from 1961-1965. Next, she marries Glynn Turman which lasted from 1978-1984. Aretha the has her first kid, Clarence. Clarence was born on January 28,1955. Her second son’s name is Edward. He was born on august 13 1957. Ted white jr. her third child and is born on February 1964. And her last kid’s name is Kecalf. And his birth date is April 1970.

My conclusion is that what I’ve learned from this wonderful and amazing woman was that you can be anything from the daughter of a paster to the Queen of Soul. And that is the Amazing Life of Aretha Franklin.
